Changes and alerts on tourist rentals in Castilla-La Mancha
Pending changes, news and the latest reform that could affect tourist rentals.
Toledo is already enforcing its 12% municipal cap in practice: an official 13 Feb 2026 resolution (BOE-A-2026-12151) confirmed that the Dirección General de Seguridad Jurídica y Fe Pública upheld a Toledo property registrar's refusal to assign a short-term rental registration number because the municipal planning requirements for VUT hadn't been proven.

IN THE PIPELINE, NOT LAW YET (per press and the regional government's press release): Castilla-La Mancha's draft new Tourism Act would raise VUTs to statute level, require renting the whole home (not by rooms), ban advertising them on platforms without a declaración responsable or registry entry, make an owner who does not identify the operator secondarily liable, and classify advertising without registration as a very serious infraction. The public consultation closed on 13 Aug 2026 and contributions were being reviewed until 14 Sep 2026; it then goes to the regional Cabinet (expected late 2026) and the regional parliament. It may change.
