Changes and alerts on tourist rentals in Ciudad Autónoma de Melilla
Pending changes, news and the latest reform that could affect tourist rentals.
The number of tourist-use homes in Melilla is very low: INE counts 38 tourist homes in the city, and when Spain's national Unified Rental Registry launched (mandatory since 1 July 2025), only 107 tourist homes were confirmed across Ceuta and Melilla combined, with just 14.9% of applications started six months in. This is consistent with the apparent absence of a modern, VUT-specific regional decree: Melilla appears to regulate tourist accommodation mainly through its generic 2010 tourism regulation (which treats "apartamentos turísticos" as a classic accommodation category rather than the private-home-rental VUT figure most other regions have), similarly to Ceuta.
